Do We Have A King?

I was reading Psalm 47 this morning, and was reminded what a horrible statement was made by those Israelites who called for the crucifixion of Jesus.

What was the horrible statement?

After they shouted "Crucify him!", Pontius Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?"

And here was the awful statement they shouted:

"We have no King but Caesar."

They were schooled in the Scriptures and knew better. But they chose to have the King of Kings crucified.

So they entered the Spin Zone, and intimidated Pilate (who recognized Jesus was innocent) by reminding him that if he didn't do their murder for them, he would be in trouble with King Caesar.

"For the LORD Most High is to be feared,
A great KING over all the earth."

"Sing praises to our KING,
sing praises.
For God is the KING of all the earth;"
