I have a classic but tragic example of "performance based Christianity". A Christian friend lost her 18 yr. old son in a terrible shooting accident. She couldn't be sure he was saved. He was in a rebellious teenage mindset. In the immediate days after his death, she found herself questioning God and struggling with anger toward Him. She had trouble praying and reading the scriptures. A well meaning friend chastised her daily that because she questioned God and struggled to pray and read her scriptures, she needed to seriously consider whether she was really saved or not. That friend just added grief upon grief in this grieving mother's heart.

Ano,
That is sad. May the grace of Jesus fill her heart and mind.
Thanks for sharing.
